Peter is a Washington, DC-based international lawyer and nonprofit executive who specializes in creating mission-driven organizations. He brings three decades of experience from across the public, private and nonprofit sectors and applies a unique blend of strategic management, legal and communication skills. He has a strong track record delivering outcomes that ensure sustainability, good governance, and measurable results.
Mr. Illig has advised the United Nations, World Health Organization, International Labour Organization, World Bank and Asian Development Bank on legal and policy elements of environment, health, and human development projects. His professional service includes the Environmental Health Roundtable of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine*, Board of Directors of Valaurum, Inc., Director for North America for ARTDO International, and the National Eagle Scout Association.
He has advocated before the UN, OECD, European and US Agencies, implemented ISO Good Governance standards and established strategic partnerships with the UN, WHO and other international organizations. Career highlights include establishing the philanthropic foundation of Stryker Osteosynthesis, Inc., the Swiss Office of the US medical charity Operation Smile and the National Center for Montessori and Aging.
For Restore the Climate, he is responsible for:

• Strategic planning, partnerships, alliances and joint initiatives
• Fundraising, development, reporting and donor relationships
Mr. Illig holds an LLM from the University of Notre Dame London Law Program, a JD degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law and is admitted to practice law in New York State.
