Dr. Atif is a global Humanitarian Action, Crisis Management, Disaster Risk Reduction, and Organizational Development expert who specializes in programs that impact the Arab-speaking countries, and the Arab and African region.
His public career began as the youngest member of the Parliament of Sudan for 8 years, followed by about a decade with the World Health Organization in Health Action in Crisis / Emergency & Humanitarian Action, and over 14 years leading the Arab Regional Office for World Organization of the Scout Movement and Secretary General of the Arab Scout Organization of the League of the Arab States.
His extensive educational achievements included a Ph.D. in Disasters & Crisis Management from National Ribat University, Sudan, a Master in Disaster Management and Refugees Studies from International Africa University, Sudan, a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from Juba University, South Sudan, a Diploma in Emergency Medicine and Disaster Preparedness, WHO, Linköping University in Sweden, and the Coventry University of the UK and a Diploma in Emergency and Humanitarian Action from Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, UK.
Dr. Atif currently serves as CEO of ARTDO International, a global network of institutions, educators, and trainers in organizational and human development from 35 countries in Asia, Africa, Europe, the USA, and the Middle East.
He has held numerous leadership, board, and volunteer service positions including the AHM Leprosy Relief Organization in Germany (Consultant), the Sudanese Scout Association (International commissioner), Sudan Air Scouts (Chief leader), the Sudanese Red Crescent, the Sudanese United Nations Association, Egyptian Syndicate for professional caring for people with disabilities, American University in Cairo (Member, board of advisor of CEC), Sec. General of the Arab Scout Foundation, BP Fellow of the World Scout Foundation, and Valaurum Inc. Consultant, member of the board of advisors.
He has received many formal awards and honors acknowledging his medical, health, and youth development contributions including the Sudan Presidency Excellence Award "Jadara وسام الجدارة", Scientific Excellence from the League of Arab States, Arab Best Volunteer Award, ARTDO International HRD Excellence Award, ARTDO International Chairman Emeritus Leadership Award. Arab Scout Award "قلادة الكشاف العربي", and awards for excellence from the Scout organizations of UAE, Bahrain, Sudan, Jordan, Yemen, Kuwait, Egypt, Lebanon, and Tunisia.
For Restore the Climate, Dr. Atif contributes his knowledge and expertise to:
· Advocate and present formal policy resolutions for climate restoration across the Arab-speaking and African region countries.
· Engage, present, and deliver educational programs to environment and youth ministries, agencies, and organizations
· Represent RTC at formal regional, national, and local events related to climate and the environment
· Establish strategic partnerships with leading scientific and research institutes, ministries, and agencies responsible for addressing climate-related risks and impacts
